So basically, this guy ignored that he was told to put his seat forward and take off the mask for take-off, ignored that he was told (presumably twice, since it's always in the pre-flight safety thing) that he had to put his bag either under the seat in front of him or in the overhead bin. And after, being kicked off the plane, he picked out the smallest complaint the steward had and said that _that_ was the reason. And that's what I gather from reading only _his_ side of the story. It's interesting that the specifics of the exchange that got him booted off the plane aren't detailed on. Sure, maybe the airline staff overreacted, but I couldn't judge just from reading one side of the story. People don't usually admit to being a douchebag when they're trying to explain how they're a victim..
The Milgram experiment and the Stanford prison experiment didn't say that people were evil, but that they could be capable of evil if they saw themselves as being ignorant in a certain subject and, because of that, placed their trust in what they saw as a knowledgeable authority figure. A person could justify his actions because he viewed himself as the instrument for carrying out another person's wishes, and therefore no longer sees himself as responsible for his actions. Capitalism, and those who make the most from it, could play the authority figure and cause people to do evil things. While I think Moore is often hyperbolic in his accusations and too simplistic in his proposed solutions, he does spark conversation about the issue. For that I applaud him, but he's far from some kind of profit.!

digg cures cancer again?
Wow... what a time for this to appear on the FP of Digg... my wife was just attacked by a Pitbull about 4 hours ago... I hate people, why do they raise these dogs to be mean... I've owned them myself, and if brought up right they can be very loving, loyal and gentle animals.. |

It's funny that the author notes the multi-touch interface but doesn't consider the possibility that it could have a touch keyboard too. With the dual screens it would seem a natural option to rotate the device into standard laptop layout with a touch keyboard on one side and then use the other half as screen. The Gizmodo article puts the device in the "late prototype" stage, which makes it much less vapor than the other tablets (Apple and Crunchpad). We all win if there is some actual competition out there, so let's hope they all produce something and we can each make our own choices. |
