Yeah I had a big night out last weekend, came home and blew chunks.Chunks is my dog./edit: *****... hit wrong reply button :(?
The main problem is that the government owns the roads. The roads should belong to the FREE MARKET!If the government continues to operate inefficiently, this dream of solar powered roads will never happen. Also, businesses that work hand in hand with the government would lobby to never allow this new kind of road to exist. The company that has an exclusive (monopolistic) deal with the government to sell gravel and asphalt and whatnot, this company will fight tooth and nail to never allow solar powered roadways. All the government does is punish its enemies and reward its friends. So why would the government stop rewarding its friends? The way I see this whole solar powered roadway thing to happen is in the marketplace. They should start by selling this in the form of driveways. Then sell it to new housing communities. This would be a great marketing tool for housing developers: "Buy a house with us, and you'll get free electricity for your house and electric car because all the roads in our neighborhoods are solar powered!"After the success of those things, then the people could argue that all roadways should be fitted with solar powered capabilities. The perfect situation is to remove all aspects of the government and replace everything with the FREE MARKET. Most problems in the world are as a result of the government. It's their fault that the roads suck and there hasn't been any improvements by and large. It's time for an evoLution...not a revolution. |

@intent. That's a pretty good summation. Apple also made IE the default browser for the Mac (giving Netscape the heave ho) and all lawsuits between the two companies were settled along with a 5 year agreement for cross platform technology (which was extended for another 5 years later). All it cost Microsoft was 150 million for the non-voting shares they received (sold later for a hefty profit). It was a good deal for both sides as MS committing to creating a new version of Office for the Mac gave Aple time to retool for the iMac and OS X.

"what goes up, must come down" - that's crap. As investor, you need to remember it can't come down more than it's valued, but it can go up technically infinitely. That's why one shouldn't short sell turbo warrants. |
