“yeah, we actually learned about this case in our ethics class at medschool. apparently one of the nurses turned the resident in because she wasn't his biggest fan... word to the wise for other future docs out there 1) USE COMMON SENSE and not do this kind of crap in the first place and 2) treat others well, especially the ones doing the hardest and dirtiest work for you.sucks we all don't know this by default

@anthropodeusUnmanned probes are good for taking pictures and sensor readings of the surface. Beyond that, humans start to become more cost effective. Even the folks running the Mars rovers say this - a human geologist could do in one afternoon what the rovers did in the first couple YEARS. And the humans could do a whole lot that robots couldn't.In fact the Apollo 17 astronauts did more and travelled further in their first afternoon than the Mars rovers did in their first couple years. And the Apollo astronauts deployed scores of different experiments - each of which, to be deployed robotically, would have been horrendously more expensive. Throw in things like Apollo core samples - one robotic core sample might require a dedicated mission, and yes, the manned missions had a better bang for the dollar.Despite the lunar impacters, orbiters, landers and rovers of the 60s, 70s and 90s, what we know about the moon today is essentially what the Apollo astronauts brought back. The current probes are finally telling us something new - but again, we're reaching the limits of what they can tell us. They're largely backing up each each other's readings in different ways. (Which is scientifically wonderful.)And that's only covering *science*. There's more reason to go there than that. We won't become a space-faring race by sending robots.!

Yes, you do. Along with "WTH?" and "O.M.G, what are they thinking?"

I still prefer CD's....from a local used music store...or directly from the artists no point in paying retail for a CD when the artist gets shafted.DRM free lossless music store please. |
