He is stupid
Yeah...wikipedia...You made two initial assertions. 1) Junk DNA is irrelevant to this study since it's the protein that matters. 2) Junk DNA is, as the name implies, junk. You are wrong on both counts. First off, your "junk DNA" contains pieces of DNA call transposons. These transposons can be removed from the genome and reinserted at other sites using proteins called transposases. These proteins don't move genes in the normal human body. They only move transposons. So the junk DNA in question is extremely important here. All of that is really irrelevent, however, since that's already been known for years. This paper (which btw is linked to underneath the article) is about determining how exactly the excision of the transposon works using X-ray crystallography. As for your second point, they called it junk DNA because when they found out that actual protein coding genes makes up a small segment of the genome, they didn't have a clue what the rest of it did. The name is now recognized as a misnomer since new roles for this previously "useless" DNA have been found. The name lives on, however, because it's a lot more streamlined than "DNA other than protein-coding genes that can have functions but some of it might not".Kiss the degree, son.

Not to mention the DEATH TAX that swoops in after a farmer dies and demands half the farm value from the widow and children in most cases closing the family farm. As someone born and raised in Kentucky I have seen it many times. But hey, the "people" and the state have the right to demand half the value of property that has already had taxes paid on it right?.
That's how I always pictured the cafeteria at the NRA!
