Agreed; why do people keep suggesting they build a "from the ground up" OS? If they ever *do* decide it's worth the investment, they'd still be keeping Windows around for the people that, you know, like their applications to run...
Unless of course the first guy was gay.
There is nothing stopping someone else from creating their own football league. Remember the XFL? It's just that the NFL does what they do pretty well. And they have 60+ years of dedicated consumers. And a monopoly isn't offering something with which there is no EXACT competitor. If that's the case, then anyone with a patent that uses new technology has a clear monopoly, since no on else can make EXACTLY what they're making. They will still have competition, from other DIFFERENT technologies. If the NFL pisses off enough of their consumers. Then maybe there will be room in the market for another football league. Or more likely, people will simply stop following the NFL and go to other existing sports leagues -- the NFL's competitors (even though it's not the exact same product) -- like baseball, basketball, etc.
